Drugs can be categorized based upon their effects on users. There are essentially seven different drug types, each with its own set of characteristics, effects and dangers. Categories include stimulants, depressants, hallucinogens, dissociatives, opioids, inhalants and cannabis.
Stimulants imoact the body’s central nervous system making the user feel as if they are speeding up. They ancreasevthe user’s level of alertness, heart beat and increase glucose levels.
Depressants affect the CNS by making things seem as if they are slowing down.
Hallucinations disrupt communication within the brain. Users report rapidly shifting emotions and perception of things that are not really there.
Dissociates distorts the user’s perception of reality. Users gain a false sense of invincibility.
Opiods are powerful painkillers that produce a sense of euphoria in users.
